Obamacare Enrollment Periods

There are two periods when people can sign up for Obamacare coverage: Open Enrollment and Special Enrollment.

Open Enrollment Period

The Open Enrollment Period occurs every year and currently begins on November 1, 2016 and ends on January 31, 2017. For those already enrolled in a plan, Open Enrollment is also a time to make changes by either switching to a new plan or updating your current one. Even if you are happy with your current plan and require no changes, please note that you must re-enroll during the Open Enrollment Period.

Special Enrollment Period

If you miss Open Enrollment, you can still get an Obamacare plan if you qualify for the Special Enrollment Period. The Special Enrollment Period begins when you have certain life changes. Examples include getting married/divorced, having a baby, losing health coverage, moving to a new state, and more.
